Colour: Deep Purple.

Nose: Seductive and aromatic, dominated by well blended toasted, woody notes (vanilla, coconuts)

Palate: full-bodied and structured, with good sweetness in the attack, evolving with firm, well -
integrated tannins and a long spicy finish.

The 2009 vintage met the five conditions necessary for a great year in Bordeaux: homogeneous, early flowering and setting (early June) with hot, dry, sunny weather; an equally early start to the ripening process (véraison), beginning in late July, complete ripeness due a warm, dry August and September, and finally dream harvests starting late in September, in perfect weather conditions! The wines are of excellent quality, very pleasant on the nose and in the mouth, with ripe, silky tannins, good aromatic expression and a freshness in the finish that perfectly balances the sometimes high levels of alcohol.

Bordeaux Bordeaux in the South-West of France has the greatest reputation for red wine in the world. Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and intensity, Merlot for softness are the grapes so expect the wine to be full-bodied, aromatic, with long finish and complexity. Red wines can range from everyday ‘claret’ through to the Grand Cru Classe from Medoc, Graves, Pessac-Leognan, St-Emilion and Pomerol. There is a Bordeaux to suit every purse and palette. They classically are paired with lamb and red meat. Likewise with the whites: the gold and amber sweet Sauternes, a truly wonderful dessert wine contrasted with the fresh, crisp, fruity dry white wines of Graves. The sweet wines can be enjoyed with foie gras or with creamy desserts and the dry whites accompany white fish.

Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), known all over the world for its prestigious vineyards, decided some years ago to create a range of wines, the "Réserves des Barons", which would be more accessible and suited to daily consumption. Initially created for close friends and family, the Rothschild group decided to broaden the concept and launched the Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Collection. LEGENDE, a range of Collection wines, comprises four major Bordeaux AOCs (Bordeaux, Bordeaux Dry White, Médoc and Pauillac) offering wine drinkers classic Bordeaux wines with immediate charm and appeal. The LEGENDE collection : all the attributes of a Grand Cru Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) has based its reputation on the production of great wines, "Grands crus". As part of such a group and family, the LEGENDE Collection must set a high standard in all appellations. The LEGENDE wines are produced with the same care and attention as Rothschild’s First Wines. Pauillac and Médoc wines come from both DBR (Lafite) and neighbouring vineyards. For the two Bordeaux appellations, the technical team selects the vineyards and plots and supervises the vinification of the grapes from partner suppliers. The Bordeaux red and white wines come from the most successful areas of the Bordeaux region: Entre-Deux-Mers, Côtes de Bordeaux and Côtes de Blaye. The LEGENDE Collection : a benchmark style LEGENDE wines are neither too oaky nor too concentrated and reveal the freshness and elegance that characterize great Bordeaux. Their style can be summed up in few words – terroir, pure fruit and balance. As early as possible after fermentation, the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) team selects the best batches of wine by successive blind tastings. This process allows better control at each stage of winemaking and ageing and ensures top quality wines. The aim is to give priority to excellence and to produce wines that truly reflect the House style. The wines are released after several months or years of ageing; the time spent in barrel and the bottling date are both determined by the character of the vintage and the specific appellation. All the Collection wines are ready to drink once they are marketed.
