Burgundy, in the Cote d’Or, where the Pinot Noir grape reigns supreme in its famous reds. Think Nuits St Georges, Gevrey Chambertin, Vosne Romanee. Chablis, where the Chardonnay grape generally unoaked produces crisp citrusy white’s, Maconais for the softer Pouilly Fuisse and the Cote de Beaune where the greatest whites are produced in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet. From the reds expect elegance, ruby colour and good complexity. They are excellent with red meat and game. The whites range from rich buttery flavour through to crisp, steely tones. Great to accompany fish dishes or as an aperitif.
